ACK bishop castigates state as churches reel – Weekly Citizen

The Anglican Church of Kenya Southern Kenya Conference bishop John Omangi has regretted the manner the government subjected christians to celebrate Easter in empty churches during the resurrection of Jesus Christ which brings hope to humankind. Addressing reporters at the church headquarters in Kisii town, the bishop said that the corona virus should not be used to instill fear in people because when Jesus died, he closed all the barriers and “brought power and understanding in our faith”. Bishop Omangi urged the government to quickly initiate a system of bringing life back to normal among citizens by consulting widely including bringing church leaders and other stakeholders on board. He however commended the government for leading the campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic which led to Kenyans get more informed about the virus which has become a threat in the whole world. The bishop took issue with the national and county assemblies for failing to come out strongly against the campaign on the virus which is taking the fourth month with the police unleashing terror on innocent citizens who have been teargassed in various towns and trading centres. The church head said that the masks which the government is asking wananchi to put on are so discomforting with some people having breathing problems
