Celebrated Tanzanian artist Nasibu Abdul Juma, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz, has no qualms about a statue being made in his honour as a musical icon.

Speaking to Bongo 5, Platnumz who marked 10 years in the music industry on New Year’s Eve with a show dubbed ‘Twenzetu Kigoma’, revealed that he is now ready and has no reservation of him being immortalized in stone.

“Mimi nalipokea kwa mikoni miwili maana hata wenzetu Ulaya wanajengewa, Rais kunipia simu ni heshima kubwa sana” said Platnumz.

This comes just days after the father of four hit another milestone after he was phoned by President John Pombe Magufuli while performing live on stage at the event.

According to a video doing rounds, President Magufuli revealed that he is one of Platnumz’s loyal fans and that Kigoma’s love for the singer’s music was unmeasurable.

“Mi nakupenda sana na napenda watu wa kigoma pia, napenda miziki yako pia na nawatakia heri ya mwaka mpya na mungu awabariki sana.” Magufuli said.

Speaking about his 10 fruitful years in the music industry, Platnumz told Wasafi Media that he has received enormous support over the years and it was only fair for him to reciprocate the love.

“I do shows and whether they are free or there is an entrance fee, the show must be full. It has become normal for me. In my 10 years, I have been supported so much and I am here to thank my people,” he said, adding that “I am a person that not only sings but also thinks and I invest in the things that I think about. I have a team of advisers in my circles and I thank them for being there for me,”

The singer added that one of his secrets to success, apart from his obvious talent, was his ability to understand and package his content to his audience that has kept him at the top.

“I know the strategy of the Bongo Flava music industry. I have 10 years of releasing hit songs. It’s a talent that I identify what people what to listen [to and] at what time and season.”

Diamond is the CEO of Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), arguably one of East Africa’s biggest record labels, and, by extension; Wasafi FM and Wasafi TV stations.
