Kenya 7s captain Andrew Amonde on Friday received the Head of States Commendation from President Kenyatta alongside other sports personalities.
Amonde was awarded the Head of States Commendation (HSC) Civilian Division for his service to Kenya Rugby both in 7s and 15s.
The KCB backrow has played 72 tournaments at the World Sevens Series; 341 matches scoring 305 points from 61 tries.
“It’s very exciting yet humbling to receive this recognition from His. Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. I dedicate it to my teammates who we continually work together to fly the Kenyan flag high.” Amonde told KRU media.
Others awarded include Tottenham midfielder and Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, Timothy Cheruiyot and Rosemar Owino among others.
