Kiambu governor Nyoro now marked man – Weekly Citizen


Kiambu governor James Nyoro is a marked man with members of the county assembly baying for his blood.

Weekly Citizen has information that the MCAs are unhappy with the manner in which the governor and his allies are involved in the manipulation of tenders to land in the hands of firms owned by his close associates or political henchmen. Recently at a meeting held at Sahara West Hotel, Ruaka, tempers flared as the MCAs shouted at Nyoro who had convened the meeting.

They accused the governor and his allies of milking dry the health docket all in the name of combating Covid-19. The MCAs baying for Nyoro’s blood are Solomon Kinuthia (Ndenderu) and nominated Njeri Bakari. Kinuthia was the brains behind the impeachment of former governor Ferdinand Waititu. Sources say Nyoro is at war with Kinuthia who is currently chairing a health committee unearths a multimillion scandal surrounding the misuse of Covid-19 funds.

It is suspected Nyoro fronted firms owned by family members to supply Personal Protective Equipment and were paid millions of shillings. An insider within the committee revealed how Nyoro has been frustrating committee proceedings by even instructing those managing health dockets not to attend when summoned. Surprisingly, the executive has requested for additional funds to fight Covid-19 in a supplementary budget.

They accuse Nyoro of boasting to own residences in Seattle and Florida in America and if impeached, he will fly for holiday and relax. The MCAs are accusing majority leader Gideon Gachara of defending Nyoro after a proxy company fronted by him was awarded multimillions tender. Nyoro is finding the going tough in Kiambu as he has fallen out with the majority of the MPs, among them, Patrick Wainaina (Thika), Gathoni wa Muchomba (women rep) and Moses Kuria (Gatundu South).
