Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa is a worried man and that is why he wants the DCI to release his Range Rover vehicle and two guns confiscated over the fake Sh40 billion military firearms tender.
Those close to him claim that he fears for his life as he believes he is targeted in Uhuru Kenyatta succession race for being a key player in William Ruto’s camp that has seen him have more enemies than friends.
Even his family members in Mumias are also a worried lot to the extent that they have cut down movements just like the former CS.
With no car and security, Echesa is of late found indoors at his Karen residence unless a friend he trusts picks him for an outing which should not go deep night as it used to happen sometimes back. The family has warned him to be careful with his life as it seems he is a marked man.
To show all is not well with Echesa, in a certificate of urgency through lawyer Brian Khaemba, he seeks court orders compelling the officers to return the car, firearms and 104 bullets.
“Pending hearing and determination of the case, the court be pleased to issue an order directing the DCI to release his firearms, a P-Barreta FO 92 with serial number A022182Z and Ceska CZ with serial number 0641872, together with 9mm 104 calibre ammunitions, 1 Ceska magazine and three pistol hoisters to him,” the application read.
The petition adds that the Range Rover KCR 786H is Echesa’s only vehicle. Recently, DCI officers raided Echesa’s Nairobi home following a search warrant granted by a court in relation to another case in which he is accused of illegally transferring the ownership of vehicles belonging to his late friend. They seized five cars.
